Employee Spotlight: Stéphane D. Dorge

April 19 2021

In February 2020, our team welcomed Stéphane D. Dorge. As our Director of Governance Services and Corporate Secretary, Stéphane provides strategic support to our board and to the boards of the 14 organizations in our network. More specifically, he supports the recruitment of board members, advises chairpersons, plans and coordinates Réseau Compassion Network Board meetings, and ensures each board’s governance framework is sustainable. “I love what I do because it allows me to work with our French community and it gives me the opportunity to support the important work of the Grey Nuns’ legacy through our network organizations, both of which are really important to me,” explains Stéphane.

Now that the weather is warming up, Stéphane looks forward to his weekly golf tee times with his teenage son, cribbage games with his daughter and weekend meals with his family. For Stéphane and his wife, a glass of wine shared with good company is what makes Saturday night meals special. “I’ve been passionate about wine for a very long time,” says Stéphane. “My wife and I have been on 2 wine trips: one in Napa Valley, California and another in the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario.” Stéphane’s passion for wine dates back to his law school years, when he started a wine tasting club called “The Supreme Cork.”

A Reconciliation GatheringRecently, we came together for a day of learning, reflection and honest conversation focused on what meaningful reconciliation looks like in practice. Hosted at Anish Healing Centre, the gathering brought together staff, leaders, board members and members of our Indigenous Advisory Circle.Through presentations, fireside chats and group discussions, we explored practical ways health and social service organizations can create spaces where Indigenous staff and clients feel safe, respected, welcomed and cared for. From policies and hiring practices to accountability and inclusion, the focus was on meaningful change and the work still ahead. ...
