Actionmarguerite wins Manitoba Chamber of Commerce Return to Work Award

November 14 2019

Actionmarguerite is the 2019 winner of the WCB Return to work award, they were nominated amongst other employers in Manitoba, including Birchwood Automotive Group and Donwood Manor Personal Care home.

Presented and judged by the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba, this award is presented to the Manitoba business that has developed the most outstanding Return to work program. All applicants are evaluated based on their ability to develop a culture of Return to Work in their organization with measurable results.

“Following in the tradition of the Grey Nuns, who had to meet many challenges with less resources than we have, we have been figuring out how best to move forward with our return to work program.  We invested not only in dollars but in people, in process and in training like our Gentle Persuasive approaches. It’s not easy to do in not-for profit long term care.”  Says Sheila Bayda, Chief Human Resource Officer while accepting the award on behalf of the organization.

On October 25th, at the Victoria Inn and Conference Centre, The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) hosted more than 430 members and guests to recognize Manitoba’s innovative, hard-working business and community leaders.

“This MCC event is a member favourite because it gives us a chance to celebrate our peers — driven business leaders, community champions, and innovative entrepreneurs who are contributing to the strength of economy and the future of our province,” says Chuck Davidson, MCC President & CEO

ActionMarguerite has been nominated twice in this category, this being their first win.  Winning is a wonderful accomplishment, but more importantly it demonstrates the compassionate thought that goes into creating a safer, more caring environment for staff and residents.

Bayda emphasizes that culture is key “The investment has been in reframing the safety conversation and changing the culture so we can do what we do even better, which is providing safe and compassionate care to our more than 600  elderly and vulnerable residents”
